Avtotor will begin assembling Rox SUVs this summer

Rox Motor and Kaliningrad Avtotor will launch the assembly of Rox hybrid SUVs in the summer of 2026, starting with large-unit production and with an eye to possible deepening of localization.

Start of the Rox and Avtotor project

The Russian representative office of Rox Motor announced the start of localization of the assembly of the brand's SUVs at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad. The first Russian-assembled commercial vehicles should reach customers in June 2026, which has been officially confirmed by both parties.

The agreement between Rox Motor and Avtotor became known back in February: then it was stated that production would start in the spring of 2026, but during the preparation process the schedule was adjusted, and June became the new target. For Rox, Kaliningrad has been declared a “strategically important region”, where the brand not only develops assembly, but also opens its own dealership.

How Rox SUVs will be assembled

At the first stage, production will be organized according to a large-unit scheme: already welded and painted bodies will arrive at Avtotor, and in Kaliningrad they will do the final assembly, installation of units, interior, electronics and anti-corrosion treatment. This format allows you to quickly launch the production of machines without waiting for the commissioning of the full cycle with welding and painting.

The partners emphasize that they view the project as a long-term investment and do not rule out further deepening of localization - even to the point of organizing welding and painting of bodies, as is already being done for Jetour T1 and T2. The final decision, according to them, will depend on market demand and general conditions in the Russian market.

Which Rox models will come off the assembly line

Officially, the list of models that will be the first to hit the Kaliningrad assembly line has not yet been disclosed, but the most likely candidates are the Rox 01 and Rox Adamas hybrid SUVs.

Rox 01 is a large premium SUV with a sequential hybrid system based on a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and two electric motors. The total system power is about 475–476 hp, acceleration to 100 km/h takes about 5.5 seconds, and the range in hybrid mode reaches about 1338 km with an average consumption of about 7.9–8 l/100 km.

Rox Adamas uses the same hybrid scheme, but is positioned even more premium: it retains the power of 476 hp. and a range of up to 1,226 km, while offering a different style and comfort-oriented suspension. In addition, the company announced plans to adapt for Russia a special version of the Adamas Royal Edition with two-tone paint and “Arabic” interior design, already shown at the Beijing Motor Show.

Avtotor and Chinese brands: expanding cooperation

The news about the start of the Rox assembly complements Avtotor’s already ongoing projects with other Chinese brands. The plant is preparing to transfer the Jetour T1 and T2 crossovers to a full production cycle with welding and painting of bodies: a new robotic welding line is currently being installed.

Previously, the same facilities have already mastered the full cycle for Jetour Dashing, X70 Plus, as well as Soueast S06 and S07. Connecting Rox to the Kaliningrad site logically fits into Avtotor’s strategy to transform the plant into a large assembly center for Chinese crossovers and SUVs of various classes - from mass-produced to premium hybrids.
