The Chinese company JAC Motors will expand its presence in Russia.

The Russian representative office of GAS Motor company announced the development of a network of dealerships in the territory of the Russian Federation. An application for an official "status" can already be submitted on the company's website.

GAC Motor company has been officially represented in Russia since December 2019. At the moment, the brand has 19 dealerships in 15 cities of the Russian Federation: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladimir, Voronezh, Yekaterinburg, Izhevsk, Krasnodar, Nizhny Novgorod, Omsk, Surgut, Tver, Tyumen, Rostov-on-Don, Ufa and Engels. At the same time, by the end of this year, GAC Motor plans to open at least 30 more dealerships with us.

Judging by the official website, the company has identified Moscow and St. Petersburg as priority cities for itself. Naturally, new dealers must comply with mandatory standards and offer a full range of services for the sale and subsequent maintenance of cars.

It is worth noting that GAC, which has not been very active in the market before, seems to have decided to actively join the fight for the local consumer. Recall that today the Russian sales of the Chinese brand are not at all impressive. According to the results of 2022, the company turned out to be the least popular among the brands from China represented in the Russian Federation. In 12 months, GAC has sold from 437 to 487 machines (depending on the source of statistics). And the current Russian model range of the company has only three cars: the first generation of the GS8 large crossover, the GS5 mid-size suv and the GN8 business minivan. At the same time, almost all of last year's sales fell on a single model — GS8 (347 units).

What new products will GAC have in Russia in 2023?
Apparently, 2023 should be a kind of starting point for GAC Motor to climb to higher places in the Russian sales ranking. After all, in addition to expanding the dealer network, back in January, the Chinese concern announced an imminent update of the entire current Russian range of cars.

So, this spring, in place of the outdated first generation GS8, a modern second generation crossover should enter our market. By the way, at the moment the company is engaged in its certification. Photos of the new GAC GS8 in the showroom of one of the official dealers of "Chinese Cars" were received from a subscriber via a Telegram feedback bot. The latest generation of the "eight" is built on the new GPMA platform. The crossover can be presented in both conventional and hybrid versions with front or all-wheel drive, as well as with a 5-, 6- and 7-seat cabin. However, it is not yet specified which modifications will appear in Russia.

The GAC GN8 minivan is waiting for the next update. It was planned for the autumn of this year. The new generation of the car was presented in China during the Chengdu Auto Show in 2022. A fresh minivan can be driven by both pure gasoline and hybrid power plants.

And the most affordable Russian crossover GAC under the GS5 index is physically impossible to update. The fact is that such a model is no longer sold at home. Therefore, a replacement is planned for him. GS5's place in the domestic market should be taken by a brand new GS3 crossover. The model is an absolute novelty of the company, which was presented at the end of 2022 at the Guangzhou Auto Show. The GS3 is equipped exclusively with a 177 hp (270 Nm) gasoline turbo engine. And as a transmission, it has a 7-band "robot" with a dual clutch and a front-wheel drive system. The approximate date of his Russian debut has not yet been announced.
