Changan has reduced its model range in Russia

The Chinese automaker Changan, despite growing sales, decided to reduce its model range in Russia, removing three crossovers and renaming one of the models.

Three models that were presented in Russia in 2023 have disappeared from the Changan website. These are the second generation CS75 Plus, CS85 Coupe and CS95 crossovers. As a result, the Russian line of the brand was reduced from 15 to 12 models.

Changan CS75 Plus second generation. The model debuted in Russia in 2023 and was offered at a price starting from 2.85 million rubles. Equipped with a 1.5-liter engine producing 187 horsepower and a six-speed automatic transmission, this crossover was a fairly popular choice among buyers. However, at the end of November 2023, an updated version of the CS75 Plus appeared on the Russian market with a new design and more powerful engines, which led to the removal of the previous version from sales. The new model is available in two engine options: 1.5 liters with 188 hp. and 2 liters with a power of 233 hp

Changan CS85 Coupe. This crossover coupe was presented in Russia with a two-liter engine producing 224 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The cost of the model started at 3.7 million rubles. However, low demand for the CS85 Coupe caused its withdrawal from the market.
Changan CS95 in the pre-restyling version also left the Russian market, giving way to an updated model. The CS95 was the brand's flagship, offering powerful engines and a spacious interior, but the new version, debuting in October 2023, has proven to be more in demand, and older versions have exhausted their inventory.

One ​​of the interesting changes was the change in the name of the Changan CS55 Plus model, which will now be sold under the name Uni-S. This decision was announced a year ago and became official in December 2024. Despite the change in logo, the technical characteristics of the model remained unchanged: a 1.5-liter engine with 181 hp. and an eight-speed gearbox. Price for Uni-S from 2.84 million rubles.

The main reasons for the reduction of the model range are the company’s desire to optimize the range, as well as increasing competitiveness in the Russian market. Changan strives to offer configurations that will better meet customer expectations and preferences. This may also be due to the brand’s adaptation to new conditions in the Russian market, including competition with other Chinese and domestic manufacturers.

It should be noted that, despite the reduction in the line, sales of Changan in Russia continue to grow. For example, sales of the CS55 model have quadrupled, and the brand as a whole has seen a 2.5-fold increase over the past year.
