Chery has introduced the TJ-1 crossover. The debut of the new model took place on April 7 in China as part of the official Chery Night event.

The Chery TJ-1 is an urban SUV with a "light" off-road slope (Light Off-Road). This is how the Chinese company positions the novelty. It is reported that in order to comply with this status, the car received characteristic improvements, as well as a four-wheel drive system. Under the hood of the TJ-1 there will be both a standard internal combustion engine and a hybrid PHEV installation with the possibility of recharging from the network. They promise to bring the new product to the market in Chery this summer, from July to August. And until then, the company plans to organize a competition for the best official name, which will replace the current TJ-1 index.

What was reported about the design and equipment of the TJ-1
The exact dimensions of the Chery TJ-1 are 4515 x 1865 x 1680 mm with a wheelbase of 2675 mm. It should be noted that the crossover turned out to be larger than previously thought. As a result, in terms of body parameters, he was able to surpass the current Tiggo 7 Pro Max, yielding to him only in height.

The main visual difference of the "light SUV" should be the huge inscription Chery, located on the radiator grille. Otherwise, the crossover repeats the design of the basic model T1EJ. It has an angular body shape with hidden door handles, narrow "checkerboard" running lights and head optics integrated into the front bumper. And at the back of the car, you can note the original effect of a "floating" roof and a bifurcated exhaust system.

In the interior, the TJ-1 will have a minimum of physical buttons. A huge 14.8-inch vertical control screen takes over most of their functionality. In addition, a small digital dashboard is provided in the cabin, as well as a projection system on the windshield.

The top 8-core Qualcomm 8155 processor, capable of "accelerating" to a frequency of 3 GHz, will be responsible for the computing capabilities of the car. Thanks to this, the crossover will be able to offer a facial recognition system, intelligent L2+ driving assistance and a FOTA option that will allow updating the embedded software "over the air". In addition, it is known that the car seats will be equipped with perforated leather, heating, ventilation and massage function, and Sony will be responsible for the sound system.

What was told about the power characteristics of the TJ-1
As mentioned above, the crossover is equipped with two types of power plants. The gasoline modification of the TJ-1 will receive the usual bundle for Chery from a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine and a 7-band DCT robotic transmission. With a similar power tandem, for example, Tiggo 8 Pro, Exeed TXL, as well as Exeed LX and Omoda C5 crossovers in AWD versions are already on the market.

But the hybrid version called Chery TJ-1 CD-M will receive a fresh rechargable powerplant. In this case, we are talking about a new high-performance system called CD-M, which was first demonstrated during the Chery Night event. Such an installation is represented by a bundle of a special 1.5-liter hybrid internal combustion engine with a capacity of 156 hp (220 Nm), two electric motors and a 3-speed DHT gearbox.

The TJ-1 CD-M will have a maximum power reserve of 1,400 km with a full tank and a fully charged battery. The consumption of 92 gasoline will be 1 liter / 100 km, and the crossover will travel at least 100 km on pure electric traction (according to the WLTC cycle). At the same time, it will be possible to replenish the charge of the traction battery from 30% to 80% in just 18 minutes
