Chery has certified the new Tiggo 5: the crossover will be released in Russia under the Tenet Plus brand

The new Chery Tiggo 5 has been certified in China and is preparing to enter the market, and will later appear in Russia under the Tenet Plus brand.

Chery has completed certification of the new generation of the Tiggo 5 crossover in the Chinese market. Judging by data from the database of the local Ministry of Industry, a model known outside the country as Lepas L4 will be sold under this name in China. Thus, the manufacturer continues the strategy of unifying models with adaptation to different markets and brands.

It is interesting that the future new product is aimed not only at the domestic market of the People's Republic of China. It is already known that the car will appear in Russia, where it will be localized under the new Tenet Plus brand. This is part of a broader strategy to promote Chinese cars in Russia, taking into account local requirements and price positioning.

Design and external changes

Visually, the new Tiggo 5 retained the general style of the original model, but received a number of targeted improvements. The changes affected the design of the radiator grille, which became more modern and expressive. The logos have also been updated, both on the front and on the rear door, which emphasizes the new identity of the model.

In addition, the crossover received original wheels, which allows you to slightly refresh the appearance without a radical revision of the design. In general, the update can be characterized as evolutionary - without drastic changes, but with an emphasis on relevance.

Dimensions and platform

Small changes in the design also affected the size of the car. The dimensions of the new Tiggo 5 are 4415x1817x1630 mm, which makes it a typical representative of the compact crossover segment.

At the same time, the wheelbase remained the same - 2.7 meters, completely coinciding with the Lepas L4. This indicates the preservation of the platform and overall vehicle architecture, which usually has a positive effect on production costs and reliability.

Technical characteristics

At the moment, the crossover is certified in China with only one engine option. We are talking about a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with 120 horsepower. This engine is focused on efficiency and ease of operation, which is especially important for the mass segment.

Fuel consumption is stated at just over 7 liters per 100 kilometers in the combined cycle, which meets modern efficiency requirements. Information about the transmission has not yet been disclosed, but it will probably be a CVT or a classic automatic transmission.

Prospects in Russia: Tenet Plus

For the Russian market, the model will be presented under the new Tenet Plus brand. The first images of the version for Russia appeared back in February, shortly after the announcement of the brand itself.

Tiggo 5 (Tenet Plus L4 version) is expected to become one of the most affordable models in the line. In general, the Tenet Plus brand plans to offer several crossovers at once - from L4 to L9, covering different market segments.

This approach reflects a general trend: Chinese automakers are actively expanding their presence in Russia, offering localized models tailored to the preferences of local buyers.
