How much will Chinese cars become more expensive due to increased recycling rates and what will surprise the new Avatr and Deepal models on the Russian market.
2025 will bring significant changes to the Russian market in the segment of Chinese cars, which will not leave either car enthusiasts or experts indifferent. In the face of growing recycling collections and unstable market conditions, Chinese brands still continue to actively enter the domestic market, trying to occupy vacated niches and offer consumers new models and technologies. Let's look at the key changes that will happen next year and see how they affect car prices and brand prospects.
Increasing recycling collection and rising prices for cars
Starting the new year, Russians will have to face an increase in recycling collection, which will affect almost all segments, including passenger cars and electric vehicles. Now for a car with a gasoline engine with a volume of 1 to 2 liters, the buyer is forced to pay a recycling fee in the amount of 556,200 rubles. From January 2025, this rate will increase to 667,400 rubles, which will affect the final cost of cars for consumers.
The increase will be especially sensitive for electric vehicles. If in 2024 the recycling rate for them was low - 32,600 rubles, then in 2025 it will immediately increase 20 times, reaching 667,000 rubles. This rise in price could slow the spread of electric vehicles, despite the efforts of manufacturers and the government to popularize environmentally friendly technologies. This step could complicate Russians' access to electric cars, which, in turn, challenges automakers to find ways to compensate for rising prices, for example, by increasing the localization of production or developing new lending and leasing programs.
New players on the market: Changan brings Avatr and Deepal
Despite economic difficulties, in 2025 the Russian market will see new models from the Chinese automaker Changan. The company has already announced plans to officially launch two new brands on the market - Avatr and Deepal. These brands will attract the attention of buyers with innovative technologies and, possibly, competitive prices, which Chinese manufacturers often offer as their advantage.
Thus, 2025 will be a year of changes and challenges for the Russian car market, especially in the Chinese car segment. Increasing recycling rates, rising prices for electric vehicles and the arrival of new brands will force consumers to adapt to new realities and be more careful when choosing a car.
