Electric GAC Aion V will officially appear in Russia: characteristics known

The GAC Aion V electric crossover officially enters the Russian market: the main characteristics, range and features of the technology aimed at the city and suburbs have been announced.

Format and platform

GAC Aion V is a compact electric crossover based on a specially developed modular Aion Electric Platform (AEP 3.0), created exclusively for the new generation of electric vehicles. The length of the model is 4605 mm, width 1854 mm, height 1686 mm, and the wheelbase is 2775 mm, which makes it comparable to the popular C-class urban SUVs.

Power plant and dynamics

Aion V enters the Russian market with one electric motor on the front axle with a power of 204 hp. and a torque of 210 Nm. Acceleration to 100 km/h is stated at 7.9 seconds, which is quite enough for confident driving in city traffic and on the highway.

Battery and range

The crossover is equipped with a 75.26 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery with proprietary Magazine Battery 2.0 technology, where each cell is insulated to improve fire safety. The declared power reserve reaches 580 km on the NEDC cycle, which in real conditions provides a comfortable reserve for city use with infrequent recharging.

Charging and operation

GAC Aion V supports AC charging up to 11 kW and DC fast charging up to 180 kW via the CCS2 standard connector. When connected to a fast station, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80% in about 24 minutes, and from 30 to 80% in 16 minutes, which makes using an electric car much easier in a big city.

Equipment and safety

For the Russian market, the Aion V is announced with a rich set of active and passive safety systems: up to 7 airbags, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping, 360° all-round cameras and parking sensors front and rear. The model was tested according to ANCAP and EuroNCAP methods and received a maximum rating of 5 stars, which emphasizes the serious level of engineering development.
