The Chery eQ7 electric car is declassified in official images. The company said that he set a new direction for the design of future models.

What is Chery eQ7?

Recall that the eQ line of electric vehicles is part of the Chery New Energy division.

Previously, it was represented by a small city car eQ1 (Little Ant), as well as a larger eQ5 (Big Ant). The mid-size crossover eQ7 will soon join this family. It is quite possible that it will become a replacement for the unpopular eQ5 in China. Earlier we saw this crossover in teaser images. And then the "seven" appeared in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry. The exact dimensions of the eQ7 are 4675 x 1910 x 1660 mm with a wheelbase of 2830 mm. In terms of dimensions, it resembles a Hyundai Tucson. And if you compare it with the electric vehicles presented in Russia, the eQ7 is very similar to the Skywell ET5. The Chery crossover is driven by an electric motor with a capacity of 210 hp. And the role of the battery is performed by an iron-phosphate (LFP) battery. It is expected that the prices for eQ7 will amount to 150-200 thousand yuan (1.69-2.25 million rubles).

In the pictures from the Chinese ministry's database, the design of the eQ7 seemed controversial to many. Now Chery has published official images of the crossover in a cute blue shade and has better chosen the angles. The company said that it became the first car made in the design language "digital hypertel" (数字超体). It is characterized by thin DRL, triangular elements with integrated headlights and streamlined body lines.

Nevertheless, questions to the "styling" still remained. Firstly, the new eQ7 is too reminiscent of the eQ5 that has not yet left the market. The lights of the crossovers turned out to be identical at all. And the eQ7 body itself does not look like a "hypertelo". On the contrary, the wheels deeply planted in the arches give it a slightly clumsy look. And they decided not to beat the front camera in any way, but to place it clumsily in the middle of the front part. It turned out to be a kind of door peephole in the middle of the bumper.

Chery also talked about the eQ7 body. It turned out that it was partially made of aluminum. Because of this, the weight of the car was reduced by 25%. At the same time, it turned out to increase its structural strength, passive safety and corrosion resistance.Thus, the Chery eQ7 still looks like a rather controversial car. It is not yet clear what new design language we are talking about. Nevertheless, the use of high–quality body materials is a nice bonus. The eQ7 should go on sale in China in the second half of 2023. There is no information about its prospects regarding the Russian market yet.
