GAC has begun accepting pre-orders for the S9 hybrid crossover with a range of more than 1,000 km and premium equipment.
GAC has announced the start of accepting preliminary applications for the new flagship crossover S9, which was announced for the Russian market earlier. Despite the fact that prices and the start date of official sales have not yet been disclosed, pre-ordering will allow customers to receive priority when purchasing a car.
Thus, the brand is beginning to generate demand for one of its key new products in the large SUV segment.
GAC S9 is a full-size crossover with a length of about five meters, aimed at comfortable trips and long journeys. The model is positioned as the flagship of the line and is designed to compete with other large hybrid SUVs.
Externally, the car will have a modern design, and available options include two-tone body paint and large 21-inch wheels.
The crossover is equipped with a sequential hybrid system in which the gasoline engine acts as a generator, providing power to the electric motors.
Two electric motors develop a total of 340 hp, allowing it to accelerate to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds. The electric range reaches 208 kilometers, and the total autonomy is 1019 kilometers.
Fuel consumption is stated at 7.4 liters per 100 kilometers. There are also various power plant operating modes, including adaptive, which takes into account driving style and external conditions.
GAC S9 is aimed at a premium level of equipment. The interior will feature nappa leather and natural wood, and passengers will benefit from advanced comfort features.
Particular attention is paid to the seats: a “zero gravity” mode is provided, and massage functions are available for both the front seats and the back row. This emphasizes the model’s focus on long trips and a high level of convenience.
An adaptive suspension is also announced, which should provide a balance between ride comfort and handling.
GAC plans to offer extended warranties: up to eight years for powertrain components and five years or 150 thousand kilometers for the entire vehicle.
The launch of pre-orders indicates the brand’s serious intentions to strengthen its position in the segment of large hybrid crossovers in Russia. Against the backdrop of the active development of the model range, including the GS4 update, the company is creating a comprehensive offer covering different classes and price categories.
