GAC S9: large hybrid crossover for Russia declassified

GAC is preparing to release in Russia a new flagship crossover S9 with a hybrid powertrain, premium interior and a power reserve of up to 1200 km.

New flagship of the Chinese brand

The Chinese brand GAC continues to strengthen its position in the Russian market and is preparing to launch a new flagship crossover - the S9 model. A separate page of the new product has already appeared on the manufacturer’s official website, where key details of the exterior and interior are revealed. A full premiere is expected in the near future, and the start of sales, apparently, is just around the corner.

Design in the spirit of modern minimalism

The appearance of the GAC S9 is made in the recognizable corporate style of the brand, which is already familiar to Russian customers from the S7 model. The crossover received restrained body lines, laconic forms and minimalist lighting equipment, which emphasizes its modern character.

The large 21-inch wheels with a design oriented towards European tastes, as well as the possibility of two-tone body painting - a solution traditionally associated with the premium segment - deserve special attention.

Spacious and technologically advanced interior

The interior of the S9 combines technology and premium materials. The cabin is equipped with two independent large-format displays, forming a modern digital architecture. Controls are centered around the angular two-spoke steering wheel, another element of the current design trend.

The manufacturer promises the use of high-quality materials, including nappa leather and natural wood. Confirmed options include wireless chargers and ambient lighting, creating a comfortable travel environment.

Hybrid installation and range

Although the Russian specification of the model is still kept secret, in its home market in China the GAC S9 is equipped with a series-hybrid powertrain. It includes a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and two electric motors, the total power of which reaches about 500 hp.

The crossover is capable of traveling up to 250 kilometers solely on electric power, and the total range reaches approximately 1,200 kilometers. Such indicators make the S9 a universal car both for the city and for long trips.

Dimensions and positioning

GAC S9 belongs to the class of full-size crossovers: its length is 5060 mm and its wheelbase is 2930 mm. The model is offered on the market in five- and six-seat versions, which emphasizes its family orientation and high level of comfort.

Taking into account the size, equipment and hybrid technology, the S9 will take a position higher than the GAC S7 already presented in Russia. Let us remind you that the younger model with a hybrid installation with a power of 340 hp. starts at 5,899,000 rubles, which means the new flagship will be noticeably more expensive.

Prospects for the Russian market

The GAC S9 certification process for Russia has already been launched in the spring of 2026, which confirms the serious intentions of the brand. The segment of large hybrid crossovers in the country is still in its infancy, and the release of such a model could strengthen the position of Chinese manufacturers offering technologically advanced and well-equipped cars at a competitive price.
