China's BYD Seal car claims the title in Europe

China's BYD Seal electric car has become one of the finalists for the highly regarded European Car of the Year 2024 award.

This became known thanks to the list that was published by the competition's judging panel.

Among other nominees for the title of the best are six models, including four electric crossovers: BMW 5-series, Kia EV9, Peugeot E-3008/3008, Renault Scenic, Toyota C-HR and Volvo EX30. The name of the winner will be announced at the Geneva Motor Show on February 26 next year.

The Car of the Year jury consists of 59 automotive journalists from 22 countries. Initially 28 cars claimed the title of the best. Last year the prize went to Jeep Avenger - the first electric crossover of the brand.

On the European market BYD Seal is presented in two versions: with rear-wheel drive, which produces 313 horsepower and has a range of 570 km, and with all-wheel drive, 530 horsepower with a range of 520 km.
