The little-known automobile brand Datsun has acquired a distributor in Russia. It is expected that sales of the first electric cars of the brand will begin in August. Their approximate prices are in the range of 2.6-4 million rubles.
Dayun is not only a brand of passenger cars. It belongs to a large holding Shanxi Tongda Group. Since 1999, mopeds of the Dayun brand have been produced in China. In 2009, the company began to produce trucks as well. Interestingly, Dayun's latest project immediately went uphill – a large number of dealers appeared, and sales in the first year exceeded 5,000 trucks. And only in 2020, the company decided to take up passenger cars.
At the moment, the Dayun model line is represented in China by three cars. The first two of them are a fully electric minivan and a citicar. And the third, suddenly, is a utilitarian pickup truck with engines from Mitsubishi and Foton. In 2022, the total sales of Dayun amounted to approximately 20 thousand cars. Interestingly, in the same year, the company announced the imminent appearance of an all-electric premium sub-brand called Yuanhang. But his cars have not yet gone on sale.
According to the website Drom.ru , the Dayun brand has already got a distributor in Russia. The first cars will be brought to Russia in June – these will be exhibition copies. Real sales will begin in August of this year. At the same time, we will not be talking about artisanal parallel imports – the distributor is going to get an OTTS for imported cars. The line of cars for the Russian Federation will be represented exclusively by electric vehicles. What models are we talking about?
The Yuanzhi M1 midsize minivan should be the first to appear on the Russian market. Its dimensions are 4850 x 1860 x 1780 mm with a wheelbase of 2880 mm. It is available in four interior layout options, starting with 4 seats and ending with 7. It is driven by an electric motor with a capacity of 197 hp. Two optional batteries are available for the Yuanzhi M1: for 72 kWh and 450 km of power reserve (CLTC) and for 90.6 kWh and 550 km of power reserve. Its price in China is 177.8-288.8 thousand yuan (2-3.2 million rubles). And on the Russian website, Yuanzhi M1 was previously estimated at just under 4 million rubles.
Dayun Yuehu S1 is expected to be next in Russia. In China, its version is still available without the prefix "S1". This is a compact citicar with dimensions of 3695 x 1685 x 1595 mm and a wheelbase of 2410 mm. It is driven by a 48 hp motor. Previously, Yuehu had a version with all-wheel drive. Now only the front one is available. Batteries with a capacity of 30.7-31.7 kWh and a power reserve of 300-330 km (CLTC) are installed on the current version of the model. And according to the distributor, the Dayun S1 will be equipped with a more capacious 60 kWh battery. In China, 75.8-85.8 thousand yuan (850-960 thousand rubles) are asked for a car. The estimated cost in Russia is 2.65 million rubles.
Now Dayun's focus has shifted to the premium segment of electric vehicles, which will be released under the Yuanhang brand. Its model line was demonstrated in 2022 as part of the Chengdu Auto Show. The Yuanhang Y6 sedan and its sports "brother" Yuanhang Y7 should be the first to appear on the market. Their road tests are already being conducted in China.
Note that these sedans are impressive in their dimensions. The dimensions of the Y6 are 5270 x 2000 x 1500 mm with a wheelbase of 3130 mm, the Y7 is only slightly smaller. Later, the H8 and H9 crossovers will join the Yuanhang model range. Their length also exceeds 5200 mm.
It is expected that all Yuanhang electric vehicles will be built on the B.H.D. architecture developed jointly with Bosch, Huawei and Alibaba. Its features will be compatibility with 800 V fast charging, a power reserve of 800-1, 000 km and the output of electric motors up to 700 hp. The first Yuanhang cars should enter the Chinese market this year. It is possible that the Russian distributor may show interest in this premium segment in the future.
