New SUV from Huawei and Stelato: first photos

Stelato has revealed the first images of the large G9 SUV with hybrid and electric versions and a range of up to 1,300 km.

New flagship Stelato

The Stelato brand, created within the framework of the HIMA alliance with the participation of Huawei and BAIC, presented the first images of the new full-size SUV G9. The model will be the first in the brand’s line, made in this format, and will expand the company’s presence in the large SUV segment.

The start of sales of the new product is scheduled for the third quarter, and customers will be offered both fully electric and hybrid versions.

Dimensions and layout

Stelato G9 turned out to be one of the largest representatives of the class. Its length varies from 5206 to 5377 mm depending on the configuration, and the wheelbase is 3160 mm.

In its dimensions, the new product surpasses even some premium SUVs, including the Yangwang U8. The model will be available in five- and six-seat versions, which emphasizes its focus on family use and long trips.

Platform and power plants

The Stelato G9 is based on a state-of-the-art 800V architecture that delivers high efficiency and fast charging support.

Regardless of the version, the car is equipped with two electric motors:
- 218 hp on the front axle;
- 377 hp on the back.

In the hybrid modification, a 1.5-liter gasoline engine is added to them, which acts as a generator. The maximum speed is stated at 220 km/h.

Power reserve and batteries

The Stelato G9 is equipped with batteries of significant capacity. The electric version will have a 120 kWh battery, providing a range of about 700 kilometers.

The hybrid version is equipped with a 75 kWh battery and is capable of covering up to 1,300 kilometers in combined mode. Such indicators make the model attractive for long trips.

Design and technology

Despite its positioning as an SUV, the G9, according to preliminary data, is built on a monocoque body. The car is equipped with a fully independent suspension with pneumatic elements, which focuses it more on comfort and versatility than on extreme off-road conditions.

The model is expected to receive a wide range of digital technologies and driver assistance systems developed by Huawei.

Brand prospects

Currently, the Stelato line includes the S9 sedan and S9T station wagon. The appearance of the G9 expands the model range and brings the brand into the full-size crossover segment.

Interest in the brand may also increase in international markets: Huawei has already registered the Stelato logo in Russia. This indirectly indicates possible plans to expand the brand's presence outside of China.

The Stelato G9 demonstrates how Chinese automakers and technology companies are joining forces to create large, high-tech vehicles that can compete with global leaders in the premium segment.
