Chinese cars in Russia are no longer associated with maintenance problems: in recent years, brands like Chery, Geely and Haval have created a developed service network, established spare parts supplies and adapted equipment to local conditions.
In recent years, more and more Russians have decided to buy a Chinese car —and they do it consciously. After the departure of many Western brands, they became not just an alternative, but often the main choice for buyers looking for modern, technologically advanced and affordable transport. But many potential buyers still have one main question: how easy is it to organize servicing of a Chinese car in Russia? Are spare parts available for a Chinese car? These questions concern many - and it’s time to figure out where the truth is and where the outdated stereotypes are.
Five to ten years ago, fears were justified. Chinese brands were just entering the Russian market at that time, there were few official dealers, and service centers often did not have original spare parts for specialized equipment. Owners did experience delays when ordering parts, and diagnosing complex electronic systems was challenging even for experienced mechanics. But today the situation has changed dramatically.
The largest Chinese automakers - Chery, Geely, Haval, Omoda, Jaecoo, BYD, Changanand others - created a full-fledged dealer and service network. In large cities, almost every brand has official centers, and in the regions, partner stations that have undergone training and certification are actively developing. Many of them are equipped with modern diagnostic equipment, and technicians regularly take courses in China or at Russian training sites.
As for spare parts, there has been a qualitative leap here too. Thanks to the localization of production (for example, Chery and Geely assemble cars at Russian factories) and the development of logistics, most in-demand parts - from brake pads to control units - are now stored in warehouses in Russia. Delivery times for original components have been reduced from several months to several days, and in the case of popular models, many items are available “to order” within 24 hours. In addition, the market for non-original, but high-quality analogues is growing rapidly - especially for the suspension, braking system and consumables.
It is also important that Chinese manufacturers consciously adapt their cars to Russian conditions. This applies not only to reinforced suspension and pre-heaters, but also to simplified design where this increases maintainability. For example, many modern Chinese crossovers use proven units, and their electronics are built on open protocols, which facilitates diagnostics by independent services.
Of course, “gray” importers and unofficial models may still have difficulties with service. But we are not talking about Chinese cars as such, but about supply channels. An officially imported car with a warranty and dealer support is a completely different level of reliability and service availability.
Thus, the myth about Chinese cars in terms of service in Russia today is not true. Yes, five years ago this might have been a problem. But now Chinese brands have invested billions into creating a sustainable support ecosystem—and it's working. There are spare parts, services are growing, and the build quality and reliability of the cars themselves are constantly improving.
Today Chinese car service in Russia is not a problem, but one of the competitive advantages.
Buying a Chinese car means choosing modern, comfortable and truly affordable transport.
