Plans for "greening". There will be more electric cars and Chery hybrids in Russia

Following the current environmental trends to reduce emissions, Chery decided to increase the number of cars powered by alternative energy sources in its model range.

According to a press release, at the initial stage, the Chinese company plans to focus on models with a rechargeable hybrid powerplant (PHEV). And then the focus of development will shift towards electric cars (BEV), as well as "full" hybrids (HEV).

The energy line of Chery cars, which should appear in Russia as part of the "green" strategy, will consist of more than a dozen models. Among the brand's future novelties with electric motors are: Tiggo 2, Tiggo 4, Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8, Tiggo 9, Arrizo 8, eQ1 (Little Ant) and others.

In particular, the first hybrid crossover Chery Tiggo 8 Pro e+ is due to enter the Russian market in May this year. Earlier, the car managed to complete a wide range of tests. Now it is fully ready for operation in domestic climatic and road conditions. It is reported that its power reserve with a full tank and a charged battery will reach 1,000 km. And the fuel consumption (AI-92) in the mixed cycle will be 1.3 liters / 100 km.

A little later, in the second half of 2023, as the source of "Chinese Cars" reported, a hybrid Tiggo 7 Pro e+ will be brought to Russia. This model will be built on the basis of the Tiggo 7 Pro Max crossover, which is relevant for the Russian Federation. Previously, the car has already been caught in the lens of Chinese "photo hunters", and its world premiere is due to take place on April 18 at an exhibition in Shanghai. Considering this, there is practically no information about the technical part of the crossover. But there is evidence that its hybrid setup will be similar to the Tiggo 8 Pro e+.

Every fifth Chery will be on alternative energy sources
Next year, Chery plans to accelerate the saturation of the domestic market with cars powered by alternative energy sources. According to the development strategy, during this period the volume of hybrid and electric models in the company's sales structure should already reach 15-20%. The brand does not announce specific models that should appear on the market in 2024, limiting itself only to factory indexes: T28 PHEV, M1E PHEV, T1G PHEV and others.

In 2025, the company plans to continue the active introduction of electric cars. And at the same time, he will be engaged in restyling of current hybrids. As a result, the volume of "green" Chery models in the Russian Federation should reach 20-25% of the total sales of the brand.

According to the company, over the past two years, the global market of cars powered by alternative energy sources has been developing very dynamically. In 2021, 6.53 million units were sold worldwide. This is 108.3% more than a year earlier. And in 2022, global sales exceeded 10.46 million cars. At the same time, the market share increased from 8% to 13%. Given this trend, by 2030 experts predict that the share of hybrids and electric cars should be about 50% of global sales.
