The percentage of Chinese car imports in Russia has reached 92%

The share of Chinese cars in the Russian import of cars for 8 months of 2023 amounted to 92%, said Ruslan Davydov, acting head of the Federal Customs Service of Russia.

He noted that trade between Russia and China has significantly intensified, while the share of trade with the European Union has decreased.

"This is not surprising, given that the EU has actually closed its market, especially in the car sector. Now, of all cars supplied to Russia, 92% come from China. Europe seems to have given up on sales," Ruslan Davydov said.

If we look at the beginning of the year, two months ago the share of Chinese cars in imports was just over 70%. In 2021, this figure was only 10%, according to the FCS.

According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China, exports of passenger cars to Russia in the first half of 2023 reached $4, 6 billion, which is 543% more than in the same period in 2022.
