After Western automakers left Russia, Chinese brands began to take their place. Now, in places where Japanese and European cars were previously assembled, the production of Chinese cars has been launched.
So, what Chinese brands are represented on the Russian market? What’s new: the assembly of Jetour Dashing crossovers has been launched in Russia.
A production line of a Chinese crossover has started at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad. This is the first model from Jetour - the Dashing crossover. It is planned to launch production of the Jetour X70 mid-size crossover by the end of 2024, and in 2025 it is planned to release the T2 all-wheel drive SUV.
In April 2023, the same plant began production of cars from the large concern BAIC. Over the past six months, a production line has been launched for a range of models: from compact sedans to body-on-frame SUVs.
New models include the BAIC U5 Plus sedan, three crossovers (BAIC X35, BAIC X55 and BAIC X7) and the BAIC body-on-frame SUV BJ40. The company plans to start production of another frame SUV called BAIC BJ60 and an electric vehicle based on BAIC U5 Plus.
Currently, the only Haval brand plant operates in the Tula region.
Cars under the Haval brand, such as the F7, F7x crossovers in a coupe version, the Jolion in a more compact version, as well as the new Dargo and the large H9 SUV, are produced at the Russian plant, which was opened in 2019. Production includes the entire cycle, including stamping of parts, welding and painting of bodies.
