The flagship hybrid crossover GAC S9 received revealed characteristics before its release in Russia: all-wheel drive, up to 1019 km of power reserve and modern equipment.
GAC has revealed the technical characteristics of its flagship crossover S9, which is preparing to enter the Russian market. Despite the fact that the exact dates for the start of sales and prices have not yet been announced, the new product has already attracted attention due to its combination of size, hybrid technology and modern equipment.
The model is positioned as a full-size crossover focused on comfort, long trips and technology.
GAC S9 belongs to the large SUV segment and is distinguished by its impressive dimensions. The length of the car is 5060 mm, width - 1950 mm, height - 1760 mm, and the wheelbase reaches 2930 mm.
Such parameters provide a spacious interior and a high level of comfort for passengers, especially in the second row.
The GAC S9 is based on a series hybrid circuit. Two electric motors are responsible for movement - one on each axle, which provides all-wheel drive.
The total power of the power plant is 340 hp, and acceleration to 100 km/h takes 7.2 seconds. At the same time, the gasoline 1.5-liter turbo engine is not directly connected to the wheels and is used exclusively to generate electricity.
Separately noted is the indicator of the so-called “tax power” - 147 hp, which can play a role in calculating operating costs.
The crossover is equipped with a 44.5 kWh battery manufactured by CATL with nickel-cobalt-manganese chemistry. Fast charging allows you to replenish the charge from 30 to 80% in just 15 minutes.
The electric range is up to 208 kilometers according to the NEDC cycle, and the total autonomy reaches 1019 kilometers. Even with a completely discharged battery, fuel consumption remains at 7.4 liters per 100 km, which is a good indicator for a car of this class.
GAC S9 will receive an adaptive SDC suspension with the ability to change the stiffness of the shock absorbers, which allows you to adjust the car's behavior to the road conditions and driving style.
The list of equipment includes modern driver assistance systems: adaptive cruise control with a full stop and then start function, lane keeping systems and automatic parking.
This makes the model competitive in the segment of technologically advanced family crossovers.
The release of the GAC S9 in Russia reflects the desire of Chinese manufacturers to strengthen their position in the large hybrid SUV segment. The model combines high autonomy, all-wheel drive and a modern level of equipment, which makes it an attractive alternative to both traditional gasoline crossovers and all-electric models.
Against the backdrop of the active development of the GAC line, including projects with the participation of Huawei, the S9 may become one of the brand’s key new products on the Russian market in the near future.
