New rules for driving schools have come into force in Russia. The changes affected training programs, requirements for technology and practical training, including the use of modern vehicles, including those made in China.
Unified standards and updated programs
Since March 2026, new rules for driving schools have come into force in Russia. Now driver training programs have become more flexible, but also more rigorous in assessing skills. The main emphasis has shifted to safety, practical training and ability to operate in real road conditions. The theoretical part was made more compact, while the number of practice hours was increased.
Modern training vehicles
One of the noticeable changes is the requirements for the fleet of training centers. If previously schools could use outdated cars, now only technically sound cars equipped with modern safety systems are allowed. As a result, many driving schools have begun to massively renew their fleets, and increasingly, Chinese passenger models are being chosen for these purposes - Chery Tiggo, Haval Jolion, Geely Emgrand and the like. These cars are not only affordable, but also meet new standards in terms of equipment, reliability and ecology.
Technology in education
In addition to updating the vehicle fleet, digital technologies are being introduced into the training process. Theoretical classes are now often conducted online, and practical routes are laid out using navigation and tracking systems. Instructors note that Chinese cars with modern multimedia architecture and driver assistants are ideal for such tasks.
More emphasis on real skills
The driver's license exam now includes most maneuvers closer to urban conditions. Future drivers are trained to work with electronic assistants, stabilization systems, adaptive cruise control - functions that are becoming standard even on budget Chinese models.
New role of driving schools
The reform is designed to make the driver training process modern, and graduates more confident and disciplined on the road. The use of new machines and technologies helps driving schools not only meet the requirements, but also improve the quality of training. Thus, Chinese cars are becoming an integral part of the updated driver training system in Russia.
