Russian consumers show interest in Chinese crossovers

Russian consumers are showing interest in Chinese crossovers due to the more extensive set of features offered by these models compared to similar vehicles from other manufacturers.

This conclusion was made by specialists of the portal "Auto.ru Business" after analyzing 5 popular Chinese crossovers and five models from global brands.

The study showed that the average Chinese car is equipped with 9 more functions than its competitors. On average, Chinese crossover manufacturers offer 59 features, while similar models from other companies are equipped with only 50 features.

Notably, the Haval Jolion Premium was the most feature-rich, offering as many as 67 features. On the other hand, the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro Travel is less equipped, offering just 51 features. However, even the most technologically advanced crossover from non-Chinese manufacturers, such as the Toyota RAV4 Fashion Plus, outperformed Chinese models by just three features (54). The Hyundai Creta Classic II was the most modest in base equipment, with just 41 features.

In addition, Chinese cars are often already included in the basic equipment with features that in other manufacturers are available only at an additional cost. For example, the roof rails featured on all Chinese crossovers are only available on the Kia Seltos Style model. Electronic dashboard and climate control are included in the standard equipment of Chinese autos.

Keyless access is available in all Chinese cars under consideration, while European brands have this feature only on the Toyota RAV4 Fashion Plus and Mazda CX-5 II Exclusive among all models compared. Steering wheel heating is present on all Chinese, other manufacturers have it only on the Kia Seltos Style and Nissan Qashqai J11.

It is also noted that non-Chinese crossover manufacturers emphasize more on safety, not only standard airbags are offered, but also side airbags, plus curtains. Chinese cars only have curtains in the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Elite and Chery Tiggo 4 Pro Travel. Conclusion: the advantage of Chinese cars lies mainly in comfort and functionality.
