Chery no longer builds cars. He creates a world in which the car is your companion, assistant and part of your digital life. And, apparently, he does it very convincingly.
Once upon a time, a car was just a means of transport - a means of getting a person from point A to point B. Today, it is increasingly becoming an extension of personal space: an office in a traffic jam, a cinema for children, a refuge after a hard day. And it is this transformation that Chery, the Chinese automaker that no longer calls itself an automaker, is implementing with stunning consistency. In 2025, the head of the company clearly outlined a new course: “We don’t just make cars. We are building a global mobility ecosystem.”
It sounds like a marketing slogan, but behind it are decades of investment, bold structural decisions and a philosophy that is radically different from the approach of most competitors. Chery is no longer trying to compete “machine against machine.” It competes with an ecosystem against a brand.
The heart of this strategy is a multi-layered brand architecture. Instead of one name on the hood, Chery has built a whole universe:
— Chery remains a mass flagship with proven crossovers like Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 Pro Max;
— Omoda, created in partnership with Italian designers, is a global technological project with an EV orientation and digital experience at the level of Apple or Tesla;
— Jaecoo — youthful, daring, with an eye on dynamics and easy off-roading;
— Exeed — premium line with leather interiors, air suspension and luxury systems;
— iCar is a fully electric division focused on the city and smart infrastructure;
— Luxeed, a joint brainchild with Huawei, where the car turns into a full-fledged ecosystem device: voice AI, cloud services, real-time navigation and L3 autonomous functions today.
This approach allows Chery to be everywhere - from the budget segment to the premium, from gasoline to pure electricity - without internal competition and with clear positioning for each audience.
But technology is only the basis. The real breakthrough is in localization as a philosophy. In Russia, Chery doesn’t just sell cars - it is integrated into the economy: assembly in Kaliningrad and Tula, 200+ dealership centers, a 7-year warranty, adaptation to winter conditions, and even its own credit product “CHERY DIRECT” with the possibility of purchasing without CASCO. In Brazil, Mexico, Egypt and Thailand - the same tactics: factories, personnel training, service networks - this is a long-term presence.
At the same time, Chery is in no hurry to abandon internal combustion engines. Instead of a radical transition to electric vehicles, he proposes a hybrid path:
— gasoline for markets with developed infrastructure (like Russia),
— plug-in hybrids with a power reserve of 1000+ km for those who are not ready for EV, but want to save money
— clean electric cars — for megacities and environmentally oriented regions.
This approach respects the buyer's choice rather than imposing an ideology.
The result is impressive: in 2025, Chery sells cars in more than 80 countries, exports over 1.2 million cars a year and is one of the five fastest growing automakers in the world. But most importantly, it changes the perception of the Chinese auto industry. These are no longer “cheap copies”, but mature, beautiful, reliable and intelligent cars, behind which there is a clear vision of the future.
And this future is not about how to drive. It's about living in motion.
