Sales of the Chinese Paladin SUV have started in Russia

“Paladin” from the Oting brand with a Mitsubishi engine is a new frame SUV that will replace the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport for Russians, costs from 3.8 million rubles.

What definitely does not threaten the domestic automobile market is the shortage of these same cars. Chinese companies will not allow this, which means the market must be replenished.
A new Chinese SUV with a Russian name has appeared in Russia. A car is entering the market under the Oting brand, which was named Paladin especially for Russia. This SUV is almost 4.9 meters long, it is based on the Nissan Terra and is equipped with a gasoline engine from Mitsubishi. Deliveries of Paladin were organized by Sinomach Automobile.

The car is equipped with a 2.0-liter Mitsubishi 4K31 turbo engine, which develops power of 218 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed gearbox. The Paladin has a frame structure and rigidly connected all-wheel drive with reduction gearing and three differential locks. Ground clearance is 215 millimeters. Car dimensions: length - 4882 mm, width - 1850 mm, height - 1815 mm, wheelbase - 2850 mm.

In the two initial configurations of the “Paladin” a 10” multimedia screen is installed, in the richer ones – a 12”. The instrument panel is also simpler in the two basic ones, has classic wells with real arrows and a 3.5-inch information display between them. In other versions, the tidy is made in the form of a 7-inch LCD display. The car also has a six-speaker audio system, wireless charging for a smartphone, an electric sunroof, front and rear parking sensors, a surround view system, adaptive cruise control, an intelligent ADAS driver assistance system and an electronic stability control system.

The Oting company is also preparing other models to enter the Russian market. Thus, a pickup truck is expected to be released in mid-2024, and a full-size SUV at the end of the same year. The release of a pickup truck using new energy sources is planned for 2025, which is expected in the spring. Oting has big plans: the company plans to launch a couple of models on the Russian market every year and reach a sales level of 10 thousand models by 2026-2027. If the goal is achieved, Sinomach will consider the possibility of localizing production.
