The premium frame SUV Hongqi G919 began to be officially named before the start of sales: a powerful hybrid with four electric motors, air suspension and a set of factory off-road options.

Official name and meaning of the index

Premium sub-brand Hongqi announced that the Hongqi Offroad SUV, introduced in the spring, will go on sale under the designation G919. The digital index was chosen deliberately: the first nine indicates the segment, “1” symbolizes the class of sensations for the owner, and the second “9” represents the level of service that the company plans to provide. Sales of the G919 are expected to start in the second half of the year.

Design and off-road capabilities

Hongqi G919 is built on a frame platform - a rare solution for modern premium SUVs and a clear signal of the model's serious off-road intentions. The basic layout includes air suspension and imitation of inter-wheel locks, which, in combination with the frame, provides high ground clearance, comfort on the highway and the ability to overcome difficult areas without major modifications.

The manufacturer plans to include a number of off-road attributes as standard equipment: reinforced bumpers with towing eyes, a roof rack and all-season all-terrain tires. In addition, Hongqi will offer an extensive range of accessories for travel and expeditions.

One of the key technical features of the G919 is a sequential hybrid installation. It is based on a 2.0-liter gasoline engine-generator and four electric motors, producing a total of 843 hp. and 1320 Nm. This configuration provides all-wheel drive and impressive dynamics: acceleration to 100 km/h is stated at 4.5 seconds.

The autonomy parameters are also impressive: the total power reserve of the G919 reaches 1,350 kilometers, which makes the model attractive for long trips without frequent refueling or recharging.

The dimensions of the SUV emphasize its stateliness: the length is 5135 mm, and the wheelbase is 2900 mm. These dimensions allow you to count on a spacious interior and impressive cargo capacity, which is important for the premium full-size SUV segment.

At the time of the premiere, the Russian representative office of Hongqi announced its intention to consider the possibility of official deliveries of the G919 to the Russian Federation. The decision will depend on the assessment of demand for powerful premium SUVs and logistics conditions.
