The flagship hybrid Wey V9X was tested in Russian frosts down to −35 °C before entering the market at the end of 2026.
The Wey brand, part of the Great Wall Motor concern, is preparing to release the flagship three-row crossover V9X in Russia. Before its launch, scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026, the vehicle underwent an extensive testing program aimed at verifying adaptation to local operating conditions.
The tests lasted three months - from January to April - and covered a wide range of climate and road scenarios.
During testing, Wey V9X covered about 30 thousand kilometers on various types of roads: from city streets to highways and mountain routes. The testing geography included Moscow, Surgut and Murmansk - regions with different climatic features.
Particular attention was paid to the vehicle's operation at low temperatures down to −35 °C. Engineers checked cold starts, stability of the hybrid system, behavior of technical fluids and energy efficiency. The resistance of body elements to extreme cold was also assessed.
In addition to mechanical and power components, the vehicle's electronic systems were tested. The operation of the multimedia complex, security and climate control systems was tested under real operating conditions.
Special attention was paid to the quality of the Russification of the interface, the correct operation of all-round cameras, lighting algorithms and the accuracy of voice command recognition. These aspects are especially important for comfortable use of the car in a new market.
The Wey V9X is based on the modern GMW One architecture with an 800-volt electrical system. It supports ultra-fast charging, allowing you to replenish enough energy for 200 kilometers of range in just 5 minutes.
The hybrid powertrain includes a 2.0-liter gasoline engine producing 238 hp. and two electric motors providing all-wheel drive. The total system power varies from 680 to 748 hp. depending on the version.
Customers will be offered several options for traction batteries with capacities from 55.4 to 80 kWh. The total range reaches 1,632–1,700 kilometers, and on electric power – from 310 to 470 kilometers, which makes the model one of the segment leaders in terms of autonomy.
The price of Wey V9X for the Russian market has not yet been announced. In China, at the pre-order stage, the model was estimated in the range from 371.8 to 411.8 thousand yuan, which is equivalent to approximately 4–4.5 million rubles.
Taking into account the characteristics, size and level of equipment, the V9X claims to be one of the most technologically advanced and powerful hybrid crossovers in its class. Its release will increase competition in the full-size SUV segment, where Chinese brands are increasingly occupying positions alongside traditional manufacturers.
