The flagship Xpeng GX has become more affordable by almost a third: with the advent of new versions, the price has dropped to 2.9 million rubles.
The flagship crossover Xpeng GX entered the Chinese market with a significantly revised price positioning. If at the start of pre-orders in April only the top-end all-wheel drive version was available for 399,800 yuan, then with the launch of a full-fledged line, the cost of the model dropped to 279,800 yuan.
The base price has therefore dropped by almost a third, making the GX significantly more competitive in the large technology SUV segment.
The initial modification of the Xpeng GX is a rear-wheel drive electric car with one engine producing 367 hp. and torque of 465 Nm. It is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 91.9 kWh, providing a range of up to 665 kilometers.
The all-wheel drive version receives an additional electric motor on the front axle, increasing the total power to 585 hp. and 695 Nm. It has a 110 kWh battery, and the maximum range on a single charge reaches 750 kilometers.
In addition to all-electric versions, the Xpeng GX is also offered with a hybrid powertrain. Such modifications cost only 10 thousand yuan more than comparable electric options.
The hybrid includes a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and two electric motors, providing a total output of 503 hp. and 695 Nm. A battery with a capacity of 63.3 kWh allows you to travel up to 430 kilometers on electric power, and the total range reaches 1,585 kilometers.
Xpeng GX is offered exclusively in a six-seat configuration with an emphasis on premium comfort. The second row is represented by separate seats with a wide range of adjustments, and the third row is equipped with electric drives.
The equipment includes heating, ventilation and massage of seats, retractable footrests, as well as a thermobox with a sterilization function. The side windows have adjustable transparency, which is a rare solution even for the premium segment.
The multimedia system includes an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel, a 17.3-inch central screen, a 21.4-inch overhead display and an 88-inch diagonal head-up display. The audio system has 33 speakers.
The crossover is equipped with an air suspension and a rear wheel steering system with an angle of up to 10 degrees, which improves maneuverability and stability.
The driver assistance system is available in a variety of computing platforms with varying performance levels. The top configuration is theoretically capable of providing fully autonomous control.
The cost reduction allowed Xpeng to achieve an impressive result: in the first 12 hours after the start of sales, about 25 thousand orders were placed.
This step fits into the overall strategy of the brand, which has previously revised prices for other models, including the P7 electric car. Cost optimization is also achieved through flexible configuration of electronics and equipment.
The Xpeng GX demonstrates how Chinese manufacturers are adapting to a competitive environment, offering buyers a combination of advanced technology, high autonomy and a more affordable price in the large premium crossover segment.
