Geely borrowed the name for a large sedan from Audi: photos and characteristics

Geely is preparing a new electric sedan Galaxy TT - an almost five-meter model with a power of up to 578 hp. and a name that matches the legendary Audi coupe.

Unexpected name for the new sedan

The Geely company is preparing to expand the Galaxy line with a new large sedan, which has already attracted attention not only with its characteristics, but also with its name. In the documents of the Chinese Ministry of Industry, the model is designated TT - the same as the famous Audi coupe. This fact looks unusual for the market, where names traditionally try to avoid direct associations with competitors.

Form factor and dimensions

Geely Galaxy TT is an almost five-meter electric sedan aimed at the modern premium segment. In its proportions and silhouette, it is close to models such as the Xiaomi SU7, which emphasizes the general trend towards streamlined, aerodynamic bodies with a coupe-like roofline.

The dimensions of the new product are 4999 mm in length, 1919 mm in width and 1479 mm in height, and the wheelbase reaches 2920 mm. By comparison, the Xiaomi SU7 has a comparable length but a longer wheelbase of 3000 mm, which may provide a space advantage for second-row passengers.

The curb weight of the Galaxy TT varies from 1765 to 2090 kg, and the total weight - from 2205 to 2510 kg, depending on the version and equipment.

Electrical platform and power plants

The new sedan is built on the same architecture as the already presented Geely Galaxy E8, which indicates the use of a modern electric platform with an emphasis on efficiency and dynamics.

Buyers will be offered two power plant options:
- rear-wheel drive version with one electric motor with a power of 333 hp;
- all-wheel drive version with two electric motors with a total power of 578 hp

The maximum speed, depending on the version, is 201 or 210 km/h. Data on battery capacity and power reserve have not yet been disclosed, however, taking into account the platform, we can expect performance at the level of modern long-range electric sedans.

Equipment and details

For the Geely Galaxy TT, several options for rims with tires of sizes 235/50 R18 and 245/45 R19 are announced. This indicates a balance between comfort and handling appropriate for the vehicle class.

Although the details of the interior equipment have not yet been disclosed, it can be assumed that the model will receive a developed digital ecosystem and a wide range of driver assistants - characteristic features of the Galaxy line.

Geely strengthens its position in the market

The appearance of the Galaxy TT reflects Geely's strategy to actively develop the electric car segment. The company relies on technology, design and a wide range of models, competing not only with Chinese brands, but also with global players.

In parallel, Geely continues to strengthen its position in other markets. Thus, earlier this month it became known about the certification in Russia of the Coolray crossover with two versions of a 1.5-liter turbo engine with a power of 147 and 174 hp, paired with a 7-speed robotic gearbox.

The new Galaxy TT, in turn, is set to become one of the key players in the large electric sedan segment, offering a combination of power, modern technology and competitive positioning.
