Geely launches the hybrid Emgrand i‑HEV with a record engine efficiency of 48.41% and fuel consumption of 2.22 liters per 100 km.
Geely is preparing to release a hybrid version of the fifth generation Emgrand sedan. The i-HEV modification will launch on the Chinese market in June and has already attracted attention with record efficiency indicators.
The model demonstrates how traditional gasoline cars can evolve thanks to modern hybrid technologies and intelligent control systems.
The main feature of the new product is a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a declared thermal efficiency of 48.41% - one of the highest in the world.
The actual fuel consumption of 2.22 liters per 100 kilometers was recorded in real conditions and confirmed by representatives of the Guinness Book of Records. At the same time, the passport consumption according to standard methods is 3.83 l/100 km.
Such indicators place the model among the most economical cars in its class.
The power plant combines a gasoline engine and two electric motors, providing a total power of 313 hp. The driver has three operating modes available: fully electric, fuel and combined.
A special role is played by a control system with elements of artificial intelligence. It analyzes driving conditions and optimizes the operation of units, allowing you to save up to 10% energy.
According to tests, in the WLTC cycle the electric drive is used in more than 80% of scenarios, and the operating time of the internal combustion engine is reduced by 27% compared to traditional hybrids.
Geely Emgrand i‑HEV is capable of traveling exclusively on electric power at speeds of up to 66 km/h, which is especially important for urban conditions.
The dimensions of the sedan are 4815x1885x1480 mm with a wheelbase of 2755 mm, which provides sufficient space in the cabin. Inside there is a 14.6-inch multimedia system display, complemented by physical climate control buttons.
Among the unusual details is a “crystal” transmission control joystick, emphasizing the brand’s desire for premium elements in the mass segment.
The fourth generation Emgrand was previously presented on the Russian market under the name Belgee S50, but the Geely brand itself temporarily stopped supplying the model.
The release of the new generation hybrid version shows the direction of development of the model: an emphasis on efficiency, intelligent systems and manufacturability. Such solutions could play an important role in the future, especially in markets where an all-electric infrastructure has not yet been developed.
The Geely Emgrand i‑HEV becomes an example of how hybrid technology continues to remain relevant, offering a compromise between traditional engines and electric mobility.
