The updated Haval H9 frame SUV has returned to Russia, but only with a gasoline engine (2.0 l, 224 hp). The diesel version is temporarily unavailable due to logistics and certification.
After an almost two-year break, the iconic Haval H9 frame SUV has officially returned to the Russian market in an updated version. However, this time it is available only with a gasoline engine - the turbodiesel, so popular among fans of the model, is temporarily excluded from the lineup for the Russian market.
The new product has retained all the key features for which it was valued: a durable ladder frame, all-wheel drive with reduction gearing, a rear differential lock, solid axles and a ground clearance of 206 mm. Externally, the car received updated optics, a new radiator grille and 18-inch wheels, and in the cabin - a digital instrument panel, a 12.3-inch central screen and improved sound insulation.
Under the hood there is now only a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 224 hp. and a torque of 385 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Previously, a 2.0-liter turbodiesel version (190 hp, 420 Nm) was also offered in Russia, which was in demand due to its high traction and efficiency on the highway.
The refusal of diesel is due to current difficulties in the supply of components and certification requirements. Haval representatives emphasize that the solution is temporary: the diesel version may return in 2026 if logistics and compliance with environmental standards can be established.
Nevertheless, even in the petrol version, the H9 remains one of the few affordable new frame SUVs on the Russian market. Its price starts at 4.2 million rubles, which makes it competitive with the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
For connoisseurs of classic off-road driving, the return of the H9 is an important event. Albeit without a diesel engine, but with proven cross-country ability, a spacious seven-seater interior and rich equipment. At the same time, the gasoline engine shows decent dynamics and is compatible with Russian fuel, and the 8-speed automatic ensures smooth operation in the city and on the highway.
Thus, the updated Haval H9 is not just an “SUV”, but a reminder that real frame cars have not yet disappeared. And even without a diesel engine, it remains one of the most practical and reliable choices for those who travel beyond the asphalt.
