It has become known which engines the new Jaecoo J6 crossover will receive in Russia

The new Jaecoo J6 crossover for Russia will receive two petrol turbo engines: 1.6 liters (156 hp) with a CVT and front-wheel drive, as well as 2.0 liters (218 hp) with a 7-speed DCT and all-wheel drive.

The newest crossover Jaecoo J6 - one of the most anticipated premieres of 2025 from Chery - has officially confirmed its power line for the Russian market. Under the hood of the new product there will be two gasoline turbo engines developed within the framework of the global Chery architecture, combining reliability, high-torque performance and compliance with Euro-5 environmental standards relevant for the Russian Federation.

The basic version of the Jaecoo J6 will receive a 1.6-liter turbo engine with 156 hp. and a torque of 230 Nm, paired with a variator (CVT) and front-wheel drive. This unit is already familiar to Russian buyers from models such as Tiggo 7 Pro and Omoda C5, and has proven itself to be economical, quiet and unpretentious - with a stated fuel consumption of about 6.9 l/100 km in the combined cycle.

For those who value off-road confidence and dynamics, a more powerful option is available: a 2.0-liter turbo engine with 218 hp. and 320 Nm, combined with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) and all-wheel drive with a multi-plate clutch and torque vectoring function. This modification will also receive modes for selecting the type of road surface (asphalt, snow, mud, sand) and a descent assistance system.

Both engines are equipped with direct injection, turbocharging with intercooler and a start-stop system adapted to the Russian climate. Particular attention is paid to heat resistance and operation at low temperatures - all versions of the J6 for the Russian Federation will receive a pre-heater and enhanced sound insulation of the engine compartment.

Jaecoo J6 is built on the same platform as the Tiggo 8 Pro, but has a more aggressive design, increased ground clearance (190 mm) and expanded optics with LED headlights. In Russia, the crossover will go on sale in the summer of 2025 at a price starting from 2.4 million rubles.

Chery is therefore betting on flexibility and adaptation: the Jaecoo J6 offers both an economical city option and a true all-wheel drive SUV - all within one modern, technologically advanced and stylishly designed body. And the choice of these two engines emphasizes the main thing: Chinese brands today know what Russian buyers want - and they know how to give it.
