Russia plans to create a unified national database of spare parts for Chinese cars - Haval, Chery, Geely, BYD and others. The initiative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade is aimed at streamlining the market, combating counterfeiting and ensuring accessible services.
With the growing share of Chinese cars in the Russian market - more than 50% of new sales in 2025 - an increasingly pressing question arises: how to ensure their uninterrupted and affordable service? The answer is already in the works: Russia plans to create a unified national database of spare parts for Chinese passenger cars. This initiative, supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the largest distributors, is designed to restore order in a segment where fragmentation, a shortage of original components and an excess of uncertified products reign today.
The project involves the formation of a centralized catalog that combines articles, compatibility, prices and availability of parts for brands like Haval, Chery, Geely, Exeed, BYD, Omoda and others. The database will be integrated with service networks, insurance companies and online platforms, which will allow car owners and service stations to find the necessary spare parts in real time - from brake pads to engine control units. Particular attention is paid to labeling and certification: each part will be verified for compliance with standards, which will reduce the risks of counterfeiting and incompatibility.
The idea was not born out of nowhere. Today, many Russian dealers of Chinese brands are already creating their own warehouses, but their stocks are local and not scalable. Meanwhile, the Chinese car fleet in the country has exceeded 3.5 million units, and the number of owners going out of warranty is growing every year. Without a unified logistics and information system, delays in repairs, rising prices and consumer distrust are inevitable.
The new database will become not just a reference book, but an infrastructure bridge between Chinese manufacturers, Russian importers and end users. It will simplify supply, reduce costs and, most importantly, enhance the reputation of Chinese cars as durable and serviceable - not throwaways.
Thus, creating a unified spare parts database is not a technical detail, but a strategic step. It shows: Russia seriously considers Chinese cars not as a temporary replacement, but as the basis of the future automobile fleet. And I am ready to provide them with everything they need - from the road to the bolt.
