The Chinese electric sedan Xiaomi SU7 set a new world record for the distance covered in 24 hours on a single charge. During an official test conducted on a track in Guangdong province, the car covered 4,264 kilometers - and did it without a single charge, using only the energy of the on-board battery system.
The feat was made possible thanks to a combination of advanced technology and ideal conditions: a crew of three drivers alternated every two hours, the average speed was 177.7 km/h, and the route ran along a closed ring with minimal resistance. But the main thing is that the basis of success is the car itself. Xiaomi SU7 Max, which took part in the race, is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 101 kWh, 800-volt architecture, an aerodynamic coefficient of 0.195 Cd and two electric motors with a total power of 673 hp.
However, the record is not so much about speed as it is about efficiency. Xiaomi's energy management system, based on its own OS and AI algorithms, optimized the operation of motors, climate control and even suspension in real time, minimizing losses. Energy consumption was only 14.2 kWh per 100 km - a figure unattainable for most electric vehicles in real conditions.
Although this result was achieved in laboratory and track conditions, it demonstrates the potential of the SU7 platform and confirms Xiaomi's claims of a “new standard of efficiency” in the premium EV segment. For comparison: Tesla Model S previously drove about 3,800 km per day in similar tests.
The record also has marketing significance: in less than a year after its debut, Xiaomi SU7 has become not just a competitor to Tesla and Porsche Taycan, but also a technological benchmark capable of setting new goals for the entire industry.
Thus, 4264 kilometers is not just a number in the book of records. This is a signal: Chinese electric cars are no longer catching up with the leaders. They set the rules of the game.
