The new electric sedan from Xiaomi impresses not only with its incredible power and records, but also with the innovative technologies that we will see in the production version. Expect sales to start in March 2025.
The Chinese IT giant Xiaomi continues to surprise the world with its ambitious automotive strategy. In anticipation of the official start of sales of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra electric car, which is scheduled for March 2025, details have emerged about its technical characteristics, range and prices. This electric car promises not only innovative technologies, but also records on the race tracks.
Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is a powerful electric sedan equipped with three electric motors from the HyperEngine family. Two V8 engines of 578 hp each. and 635 Nm each, as well as one V6 engine with 374 hp output. and 500 Nm. The total system power is an impressive 1548 hp, and the maximum torque is 1770 Nm. These characteristics allow the electric car to accelerate to 100 km/h in just 1.98 seconds, which puts it on par with the fastest sports cars in the world. In addition, the SU7 Ultra is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 350 km/h.
The electric vehicle is equipped with a 93.7 kWh traction battery, which allows it to cover up to 630 km on a single charge in the WLTP cycle. Interestingly, the documentation indicates four possible range options - 520, 555, 600 and 630 km, which likely depends on the configuration. Despite the same battery capacity, the vehicle weighs 2360 kg, which is significantly more than the base version SU7 (2205 kg).
SU7 Ultra is noticeably different from weaker versions of the machine, including SU7 Max. The ultra-variant received an improved aerodynamic body kit and uses carbon fiber in 17 body parts, which reduces overall weight and improves handling. However, despite the use of carbon fiber, the Ultra turned out to be heavier than the Max. Its dimensions are 5115 mm in length, 1970 mm in width and 1465 mm in height with a wheelbase of 3000 mm.
The car interior is also rich in technological solutions. Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is equipped with a multimedia system running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip and the HyperOS operating system developed by the company itself. For driver convenience, the Xiaomi Pilot intelligent driving system is provided, which uses Nvidia Orin-X chips with 508 TOPS computing power. This allows the car to perform complex autonomous driving tasks and provide a high level of road safety.
The interior is made in a bright yellow and black color scheme, and is also equipped with a multimedia system screen that can integrate many different functions and settings. It is worth noting that this version of the electric car is equipped with an internal combustion engine sound simulator, which gives the car a sporty sound, especially at high speed.
It is not surprising that Xiaomi is determined to conquer the heights of sports. The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype has already set a record on the Nürburgring track, completing the famous Nordschleife in 6 minutes 46.874 seconds, which is 20 seconds faster than the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT. However, it's worth noting that this was a prototype and the production version will have simpler aerodynamics, with less aggressive panels and less downforce.
The expected cost of Xiaomi SU7 Ultra in China is 814,900 yuan (about 11.1 million rubles). The first run of electric vehicles will begin shipping to customers in March 2025, and despite the high price, pre-orders are already gaining popularity. In the first ten minutes after the start of accepting orders, 3,680 cars were booked.
For comparison, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT in China costs from 2 million yuan (about 280 thousand dollars), which makes the SU7 Ultra a more affordable alternative for lovers of speed and innovation.
Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is not just an electric car, but a real technological masterpiece that combines amazing power, advanced technologies and unique records.
